High Pressure Misting and Fogging Systems

There is a new way to keep cool during those hot days; it is called the High Pressure Misting and Fogging System. These new types of cooling systems offer the owner a system that will last for many years and it is virtually trouble free. They work great no matter if you use them inside or outside. You can use them on your patio or in your dining area.

High Pressure Misting and Fogging Systems work in green houses to help keep moisture in the air and also to help keep the plants from wilting on very hot days; in some cases these systems have helped the plants produce much more than normal. Many people may never have heard of this type of system. The system uses mist nozzles and a high pressure water pump to cause tiny water drops to be sprayed over an area without getting anything wet; plus it does not leave any moisture residue on furniture and equipment. The fans oscillate and sprays a fine mist beyond 5 or 6 feet in front of the system, completely drying the air and cooling the air temperature 25 degrees. The mist is put under 1000 PSI high pressure and causes the mist to completely evaporate; just like a 6 ton air conditioner. However, you can set the fan not to oscillate but to have a fixed direction.

You can purchase these High Pressure Misting and Fogging Systems by searching the internet; where you will find several websites that offer them. You may choose between portable misting fans or a complete misting system, which comes with its own stainless steel mist lines and mist nozzles.

The High Pressure Misting and Fogging Systems are installed using overhead water lines much like a fire sprinkler system is installed. The water is sprayed downwards in a fine mist. Having the system installed in your home will help you create quite a spectacle for your home visual effects. You do not have to worry about your pets either; you can find these systems specially designed for your pets as well, in order to keep them cool. However, fans are also available from 12″to 48″; and depending on what type you want, you can have other types of mounts installed, such as pedestal, wall, floor, or you can have it mounted right on the machine itself.

Work spaces, such as restaurants and zoo exhibits use this High Pressure Misting and Fogging Systems for keeping the animals cooled down as well as creating a mist effect; which is sort of an attraction all by itself, and the animals love it. They are also used on farms on the livestock. The more comfortable livestock feels the more food they can produce.

Personal Water Misters Help Keep You Cool

You want to go the game, but the temperature is in the triple digits, so what do you do? In the past, you had two choices, you could stay home and miss the game, or you could go to the game and suffer heat exhaustion.

Well, that has changed. Now, for a small cost, you can buy a personal water misting system that will keep you cool and comfortable. Several different models of personal misters are available.

It depends on which manufacturer you buy your system from as to how effective it will be. Some systems are pretty bulky, and have a spray nozzle that soaks you to the skin. When the water evaporates, your body temperature is cooled down. If you do not mind getting wet, this is not a bad system. The disadvantages are it is heavy and gets you soaking wet.

A better system has a small nozzle that sprays a finer mist. Much of this micro mist will evaporate before it hits your skin, which reduces the ambient air temperature. You get cool without getting soaked.

Some of the systems come with small fans attached that will blow a breeze along with a cooling mist. Some of these are too large to take to the game as a fan, but you will see several of them set up on the sidelines for the players. But thanks to new technologies, you can get small portable systems that will blow a breeze along with a mist. You and your friends can stay cool during the game. In fact, you may develop a lot of new friends at the game when you switch your personal cooling system on.

There is a lot of different variety and a multitude of choices when it comes to personal water misting systems. It is pretty easy to find a good mister that will not bankrupt you, with prices from the low twenty dollar range to around one hundred dollars.

As with all things, it pays to research which system is best for your wants and needs. But the good news is, if you buy one that really does work as well as you want, you can try another one for just a small investment.

Personal water misters are a great way to cool down at the ball game. At http://www.patio-mister.com you can learn which water misters works best.

Misting is the best way to control hot summer conditions, because you can bring the temperature down and add moisture to the dry air at the same time.

This guest article talks about the differences between low, mid, and high pressure misting cooling systems and misting fans. We sell a low-pressure misting fan kit that may be suitable for your situation, if you have low humidity and a small area to cool off.

During the summer months when the weather is humid and hot, having an outdoor cooling system can make being outdoor more enjoyable and avoid the physical discomfort. Misting is the best way to control hot summer conditions, because you can bring the temperature down and add moisture to the dry air at the same time.

People generally use misting fans for outdoor cooling in their gardens, patios and garages of their homes as well as other commercial establishments like restaurants, fairs, hospitality tents, amusement parks, sports arenas etc.

Misting systems invariably work on the evaporation technique to produce ultra fine mist that relieves the environment of the heat stress. When the water droplets are released into the hot air, they absorb the heat present in the air and get released as vapor. The change of liquid to gas creates a cooling effect known as evaporative cooling. Misting fans can be used outdoors and in areas where the use of air conditioners is not feasible.

Most cooling fans are easy to install, environment-friendly and inexpensive to maintain. Many misting fans strangely consume negligible quantities of water to produce maximum cooling effect. The cooling fans are of various types – high, medium and low pressures.

High pressure fans produce greater cooling effect which is more suitable for more expansive open spaces. High pressure system are generally operated at 800 pounds of pressure or more and are also the most expensive to purchase as the components used must be sturdy enough to endure such high pressure.

Mid pressure misting fans come in a wide variety of options for use at commercial and residential areas. Medium pressure systems are quite often the choice of homeowners because they are efficient and yet not cost prohibitive. These systems typically operate at 100 to 200 pounds of water pressure.

Low pressure misting systems can operate on the normal domestic water supply pressure. They are the least expensive type of system and their effectiveness is understandably limited. Furthermore, because of the lower water pressure, there is a possibility of a higher frequency of clogging necessitating greater maintenance.

The temperature reduction – whatever the type of misting system – largely depends on the humidity levels of the area to be cooled. The effect of fan is more needed in places with high humidity. The flexibility of portable fans allow users to place it in different areas where needed. A properly installed, quality mist system allows you to enjoy your open areas even on hottest days.

Any reputable mist company should be able to offer you all three types of misting systems, low, medium, and high pressure, and should also guide you decide which works best for your particular application.

Make it a point to select a licensed company that has been in the business of cooling systems for a long time. If you are purchasing online, you should verify that they list their full contact details with addresses, phone numbers, warranty instructions and customer support. There are many companies who don’t even list these details so be cautious. You must also be sure they offer all replacement parts are easily available to contact for help after the sale.

A basic mist system will consist of an inline filter, tubing and nozzles. Always look for metal fittings and brass nozzles and avoid plastic components as metal is known to endure better in the extreme hot climate. As most systems are small, they will not in any way spoil the aesthetics of your exteriors.

Holmes Misting Fans Are Great For Residential Use – Whether You Are Indoors Or Outdoors

For many people, 1982 is an unforgettable year. The Argentines have attacked the Falkland Islands and started a bloody conflict with Britain. In the Middle East, Israel invaded Lebanon. But 1982 is not altogether marred by war. There are things that happened back then that contributed to the overall well-being of mankind. It was in 1982 when doctors successfully conducted the first artificial heart transplant.

It was also the year when Holmes products were introduced. Arguably, appliances made by Holmes are among the top products that provide maximum comfort solutions. And one of the most well-known Holmes product line is the fan, particularly the Holmes misting fan.

If you are still using a standard air conditioning unit in one or several rooms to cool up your house during the summer months, you might have noticed the sudden spike on your power bill. Studies show that home air conditioning accounts for almost 5 percent of all electricity produced in the US per year. It costs homeowners more than $15 billion in electric bills per annum and accounts for about 60-70 percent of a household monthly power bill during summer months.

The reason behind the costly operation of air conditioners is due to the fact that air conditioner units are power suckers. A medium-sized window air conditioner unit, for instance, has wattage of 900 watts. That is more than the combined wattage of a 50 inches plasma TV (340 watts) and a desktop computer (150-340 watts).

In contrast, an average indoor Holmes misting fan has wattage of about 108-160 watts. That means that a Holmes misting fan would consume far less energy than your room air conditioner. In fact, it is estimated that you can save 80 percent of the energy that is used by a window air conditioner if you will use an average Holmes misting fan.

That will really save you a lot of money during the hot summer days. Not only that, you can also help in making the environment a lot cleaner. Less energy consumption means less emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere, which results into a lot healthier environment.

Indoor Holmes misting fans are definitely ideal for use during summer months since it is very energy efficient and will lessen your power bill. But Holmes misting fans are not just for indoor use. There are also outdoor Holmes misting fans that are really useful during summer days.

A good example is the Holmes outdoor misting patio fan. This fan is perfect for those who are frequently entertaining friends or family in the patio. It is also ideal for you if you have little children that like to play in the patio. The Holmes outdoor misting patio fan utilizes flash evaporation to jet out fine water mist to cool the surrounding up to 30 degrees Fahrenheit lower. That is really ultra-cool convenience for you and your family.

So, whether you want to cut the cost of your indoor cooling system during the summer or want to spend a comfortable time in your patio or outdoors during the hot summer days, the Holmes misting fan will be the perfect fan for you.

When you get tired of monkeying around with it, get yourself a viable solution by making your own outdoor misting fan with our misting fan kit.

Home and Garden water misting system

Most people are beginning to appreciate that a misting system or what is popularly known as evaporative cooling, is the most cost-effective way to cool gardens and areas outside one’s home. The basic principle behind this system is moving air past water particles, evaporating the water. The heat required to cause the evaporation is absorbed from the prevailing hot air and the result is wafting of cool breeze reducing the temperature by nearly 30 degrees Fahrenheit.

Many residents testify that the misting system instantly cools the area by 20 – 30 degrees, allowing them us to spend time outside their homes even during midsummer. Of course, you want a cooling system that cools the air without wetting the surrounding area and therefore a well-designed system is necessary to enjoy the full benefits.

With just a few commonly available materials, you can develop a homemade mist system to ward off heat. All you need is only a garden hose, good supply of running water, a spray bottle with a screw-on cap and a 3/4″ garden hose adapter. Remove the spray bottle top off the bottle and rinse it thoroughly in water to remove any dirt particles in the spray mechanism. Screw the garden hose adapter onto the bottom of the spray bottle nozzle and attach the garden hose to the adapter.

It is necessary that everything is fitted tightly to avoid leakage. Depending on the type of nozzle you use, you may have to tape, glue or otherwise fasten the handle in the open position to enable water to push through the cap. After creating the mister, you can hang it in the air over the area you wish to cool in front of a rotating fan to help disperse the mist and facilitate faster evaporation. This home-made mister, like all other misters, will work best in high-temperature, low-humidity environments.

The source of water can be a hand-carried pump sprayer, a reservoir with an electric pump or the tap in your house. City water has a bunch of chemicals in it and you need to do your homework to make sure your water is safe as chlorinated water and hard water may clog your misting nozzles. If you have only hard water source, use a sediment filter in the hose adapter. It is essential to clean nozzle heads at regular intervals with a solution of vinegar and water to flush out any hard water deposits. To extend the life of the nozzle heads, it is advisable to remove them at the end of every season and store them separately.

Outdoor misting fans are known to reduce the prevailing outdoor temperature by twenty degrees or even more. Strangely, the higher the temperature, the more efficiently these fans function and deliver cooler results. The amount of actual cooling that can take place depends on the actual temperature of the air outside and second is the relative humidity of the air. Water misting fans are a viable alternative to air conditioning as a means of cooling various spaces.

Home/garden misting systems can be used for a variety of purposes. Other uses include keeping a greenhouse with orchids or other plants much cooler allowing them to grow at optimum conditions. Home misting systems can also keep family pets and livestock refreshed and thus healthier.

You can make a budget patio mister fan by combining a low-pressure mist ring with a fan. The fan helps to disperse and evaporate the mist, so you can cool off without the expense of a high-end patio mist system.
Patio Misting Systems Really Work

I remember several years ago I took a job in the California desert, where the temperature regularly reached the triple digits. One day with the temperature in excess 100 degrees, we went to an upscale restaurant with friends and they wanted to sit on the patio. I was shocked that they would want to sit in the heat.

I was even more amazed when we went out to the patio dining area it was at least 30 degrees cooler than the outside temperature. In fact, the patio dining area was a more comfortable temperature than the inside dining area.

This was caused by a misting system that sprayed a fine mist into the air. The mist evaporated before it reached us, and cooled the air temperature by 30 degrees. We had a great dinner, outside in the California desert, in the middle of summer. This quickly became one of our favorite restaurants to go to and to take visiting friends to.

We later moved to another location that still got extremely hot in the summer, and we missed the patio misting system of our favorite restaurant. I started wishing that we could get a system for our own patio. However, the systems, if you could find them, caused several thousand dollars.

About that time, the big box stores started carrying a misting system that was a lot less expensive (also known as cheap). These systems cost less than $200, so we got one for our patio. I hooked the system into my sprinkler system so that I would have a ready water supply and switched it on. It worked, the patio temperature dropped about 10 to 15 degrees, getting the air temperature down to about 80 degrees. Much more comfortable.

The down side, the misting system did not produce the fine mist that the upscale restaurant produced. As a result, the deck got wet, and we got wet and the furniture got wet as well. Most of the time, this was not a problem, we were a lot cooler and could turn off the misting system before we got too wet.

But we were still disappointed. We could not afford the really good system, and the inexpensive system just did not work as well.

Fortunately, there has been a lot of progress in the past fifteen years. You can get a power system now, just like the restaurants had for about one fifth of the cost. They are still expensive, but much more affordable.

They have also made a lot of progress with the misting heads and other fixtures on the less expensive systems. They now produce a much finer mist using regular house hold water pressure. So you can get the lower temperature (as much as 30 degrees lower) without the soggy mess that the old cheap systems used to make.

You need to be careful which system that you buy, some of the inexpensive systems still use the misting heads that have too large an opening that produces the big water droplets that will get you and your patio soaking wet. So it pays to shop around.

If you want to cool your patio, a patio misting system is the way to go. At http://www.patio-mister.com you can learn more about how a patio mister will keep you cool.

Reason 5 was: You can concentrate on other tasks, knowing the misting system is taking care of your cuttings. We all know that there are many things to do when propagating plants. Tending the compost pile, weed management, building new misting and grow beds, re-potting plants that have outgrown their current pot, potting the cuttings that have rooted, and of course, sticking more cuttings to make new plants.

Being able to concentrate on these tasks can be accomplished because the misting system will follow the program day in and day out without intervention. Aside from small incremental changes that need to be done to accommodate for the lengthening and shortening of the days as the season progresses, the system virtually runs itself.

“But,” I hear you say,”what about when it rains? I will need to turn off the mist so the cuttings don’t get too wet, right?”. Good question with a very simple answer. Maybe.

You have a few options to choose from when it comes to dealing with rain.

You can just let the system run

You can install a rain sensor

Why would you want to keep letting the system just continue to run? Remember what the reason #5 is; So you can concentrate on other tasks. Physically turning the system on and of in the event of rain can become labor intensive. You would need to constantly pay attention to when the rain starts and exactly when it stops. Turning the mist system off during rain is not the critical job, turning it back on within minutes or the rain ending is. If you get caught up doing something else, and who doesn’t, you may forget to turn the misting system back on. Within minutes, the cuttings may overheat (remember reason #1, transpiration?) and die. Just letting the system continue to run will assure that the system automatically continues to mist the cuttings when the rain stops.

For folks who are under watering restrictions or are just concerned with conserving water, there is an option with the digital mist timers to install a rain sensor. This sensor is extremely easy to install. Simply mount the sensor near your misting timer and connect the wires to the circuit marked “sensor”. That is it! Two small wires that get placed under two small screws. Worried about doing the wiring because you don’t want to get shocked? No worries, the circuit is low voltage, unlike your house wiring, which means it is much safer to work on.

Once the sensor is mounted and wired, the only thing left is to calibrate it. This simply means making a small adjustment so the sensor turns off the mist timer after a specific amount of rain has fallen. You don’t want to stop the misting system from operating during a very brief shower, but you do want to turn it off during a consistent rain. Most sensors require just a simple twist of a plastic sleeve to accomplish this. The instructions will explain how to correctly calibrate the sensor.

To test your sensor, simply wait for the misting system to operate and press the plunger on the top of the rain sensor. This will interrupt the electrical signal going to the solenoids, effectively shutting the system off temporarily. Releasing the plunger will allow the system to resume misting.

Adding a rain sensor to your misting system is just one more way to be sure your system will continue to take care of your cuttings.

A Patio Misting Fan Will Transform Your Scorching-Hot Outdoor Area Into Backyard Party Central

The US Southwest-Arizona and some portions of Louisiana-is the hottest region in the country. Yet things are different during summer-it is sweltering hot wherever you are in the US. Environmentalists argue that the intensifying heat during summer is the manifestation of global warming. Critics, however, point out that the rise in summer’s temperature is just a natural phenomenon.

Whatever the reason, there is one sure thing that everyone in the US would agree upon: comfort is a must during summer. Yes, nobody wants to exude copious amount of sweat every time they venture out of their house. Of course, sweating is a natural way for the body to maintain your internal temperature and make you feel cooler. However, you can spend the summer days without really perspiring too much.

Nowadays, outdoor activities can be a lot more comfortable experience because of misting fans. What is a misting fan? Well, it is basically a fan. It has a motor and several blades. But it also has a pump that stores water that is pressurized and jetted out of a nozzle. The fine water that is sprayed out by the fan is propelled into the air and evaporates very quickly and lowers the temperature of the air up to 30 degrees Fahrenheit.

These type of fans are great for outdoors. If you watch the NFL, chances are you have already seen those huge, strange looking aluminum encased circular fans that jet out water. That’s a misting fan. If you enjoy watching weekend football, baseball, or any other outdoor sports during the summer days, then getting a fan such as this is a good option for you. Why would you sweat out like an athlete when you can just sit out on the bleacher and enjoy the live action with the coolness provided by a fan mister?

Not a sports fan but a workaholic? Well, then you might have been annoyed by the heat when tinkering with your car in your garage. Sweating is part of shop work, of course. But it would be really a hassle if you will sweat too much while doing your work. A fan that sprays out a water mist is a worthwhile investment if you do frequent work in your garage. With a misting fan, you can really do your work with great comfort.

Barbecuing on weekends during summer is uniquely American activity. But grilling your burgers and hotdogs outdoors may be quite uncomfortable. You can feel the sun and the sweltering heat emitting from the grill. Barbeque enthusiasts may argue that getting exposed in the sun and the heat is all part of the routine. That may be true. But then you can also barbeque your burgers and hotdogs more comfortably if you use a misting fan to relieve the heat.

But don’t just rush and shop for the first fan you see. Before you buy one, you should take into consideration what will you be doing with it. If you are going to install it on your work shop, then you may just need a small or a medium-sized misting fan. But if you will be spending a lot of time outdoors, whether you will be watching Sunday football games or barbecuing, you should probably consider getting a large misting fan. A large misting fan may cost you, but then it will give you tremendous comfort in exchange.
